Research studies highlight that expressing thanks is one of the easiest ways to boost our happiness. Let's help our children start the new year with thankful and happy hearts feeling positive about themselves and life.
What ages is this for?
The Gratitude Groups are suitable for ages 4-10 years.
What are the dates?
Every Thursday in January-
What time?
5.00- 5.30pm
Where online?
The sessions will be held on Zoom, which is free for you to download. You will be sent a Zoom link before the date for January's sessions- and the password to enter.
What if I have two children that want to come?
If you are logging on with one account then no problem, just pay for one child and let your two children sit together.
I'm overseas! Is this only UK?
No as it's online it is open to everyone! The timings are 5-5.30 GMT.
Does an adult need to attend?
Ideally yes, as you will form a team in the Gratitude Games, and can prompt, encourage, support and celebrate together!
Will my child have to speak- they are shy?
I will never make a child speak. I will give opportunities for children to share if they choose- and if you can always speak on behalf of your team, or type in the chat box with their thoughts if they don't want to say them out loud.
What will my child need?
Some blank paper and something to draw with.
I want my child to take part but I do not want them to be seen.
No problem, just do not turn on the camera. I will still be able to hear when you unmute, and the chat box will be in operation so you can always type too.
Are there any resources to support this?
My 'Book Of Thanks' is a perfect resource for this Programme, supporting children to develop their daily gratitude practice. This is available (with choice of 5 covers) in the e-commerce part of the website which will take you to the amazon link- or just type in "book of thanks jo bivens' on amazon search and you will see them.
What will the sessions include?
It will be hosted like a Quiz Show! So each child who is taking part along with their adult is a team. There will be lots of Gratitude Games in which children have the opportunity to learn and practice the skills. They will be able to win points (called Happy Hearts) and be awarded a certificate at the end of Session 4.
Any Tips?
Yes! Build this up to be a special part of their day/ week. Let's start calling Thursdays 'Thankful Thursday' so it becomes a special part of the day!
Thank you!
